Harney Sushi

What's going on Pig Out Nation?? The destination today was Harney Sushi (the full name is "Miso Harney Sushi"... I didn't make that up).  Located in Old Town, San Diego on the corner of the main strip and Harney road, Miso Harney Sushi is one of the best places for sushi in San Diego.  It has a very trendy, cool vibe with a live DJ and a drink bar.

I pigged out on four different Harney Sushi signature rolls:

First was the Flaming Lip pictured above.  This is a tempura fried California roll topped with spicy mayo, jalapeno, and hot sauce. Oh and there is cream cheese in the middle. Yeah... cream cheese.  Each bite explodes with layers and layers of flavor. I personally don't like cream cheese in my sushi, but anything deep fried is a winner in my book.  This roll gave me a flaming lip alright... but I couldn't stop eating.

Next up was the Lightning roll.  This roll has spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura inside and is topped with seared tuna, unagi (eel), avocado, sesame seeds, chili oil, and unagi sauce. I love unagi so this roll became one of my favorite rolls. If there is one roll to try at Harney for unagi lovers, this is the one.

Above is another view of the Lightning roll.  FEAST!!

Pictured above is the Rollz Royce roll.  This has lobster tempura, and cucumber inside and it is topped with seared tuna, jalapeno, and "money sauce"... they won't tell me what's in the money sauce, but my taste buds detected some sort of spicy mayo mix.  The goodness is covered with unagi sauce and garlic ponzu with some sprinklings of sesame seeds.  This roll is up there in my book... the unagi sauce (big surprise) and the money sauce make this another one of my favs.

Last but not the least is the Dank roll.  This has snow crab, and cucumber inside, topped with spicy lobster, unagi sauce, tempura crumbs and spicy mayo.  This was by far the best roll I had.  Again, anything with unagi or unagi sauce does something special in my mouth.  The hot crunchy tempura, the spicy lobster, and the crab meat is the perfect combination.

I rarely get full from eating sushi, but I was stuffed after pigging out here. The sushi is fresh, the vibe is great, and the waitresses are hot. Miso Harney sushi gets a 5 out of 5 stars on the Pig Out scale.
